Decisions, decisions

I’m not sure who these people are that tell you you have to limit your personal style to one or two genres, but it’s just too difficult a task for me to manage. As Heath and I contemplate moving into a new home, make furniture decisions and try to pinpoint what precise elements define our personal styles, I’m continuously pulled into two directions…

As mentioned here, I love the clean lines and bright colors typical of mid-century modern motifs. It’s also a look that can take on somewhat masculine personalities and keeps me from feeling too guilty about going overboard with girlifying the house.  But on the opposite end of the spectrum is the bohemian, Indian-inspired design that I’ve been drawn to since I was a little girl and still can’t shake. The old world feel, intricate wood work and dramatic curves and colors of Indian design gets my heart racing. It’s completely different from the sleek modern feel I’ve sort of resigned myself to, but I can’t help but be tempted from time to time to revert back to my romantic, bohemian design desires.

Seems to me the photos show a pleasant merging of the two.
